Sport tipster A Dodgers baseball player`s interpreter has admitted to stealing $16 million from a player for betting purposes. He will get 33 years in prison

Former Los Angeles Dodgers baseball interpreter Shohei Ohtani will go to prison for 33 years for stealing $16 million from the athlete.

According to The Guardian, Ippei Mizuhara, who has worked as Ohtani`s translator since 2018, admitted to stealing money from the baseball player, which he later spent on bets.

It was reported that the translator helped Ohtani open a bank account into which the athlete received his salary. After gaining access to the account, Mizuhara stole $16 million and lost it on bets.

For betting, the translator used an account registered in the name of the athlete. Mizuhara also posed as Otani to get bank employees to approve bank transfers.

The baseball player learned about the theft of funds only when he was accused of illegal betting. Otani himself told investigators that he had never made a bet in his life.

Mizuhara has already admitted to one count of bank fraud and one count of filing a false tax return. In addition to a 33-year prison sentence, he will be ordered to pay $16. 97 million in compensation to Ohtani.
