Gerard Deulofeu admitted that the comparisons with Lionel Messi had damaged his career. The player grew up in the Academy of Barcelona `La Masia` and while he was still young he was announced for the next Messi.
Years later, the 23-year-old Deulofeu plays on a loan at Milan, after failing to achieve constant appearances for Everton.
`In the end, the comparisons with Messi were more harmful than helpful. Normally I don`t read the newspapers, but I still remember the headlines in some editions. They created too great expectations among the fans of Barcelona and Messi is the only one.`, said Deulofeu.
`I don`t know what my future will be. Currently, I live in the present. I have learned a lot from the past, but I want to concentrate on the things that are yet to come. We will see what happens. For now, I enjoy my time at Milan.`
`My idol was Ronaldinho. I admired him when he was at Barcelona. I often speak with Iker Muniain. We say that one day we will be teammates. It would be great to play in a team.`, said the player
Deulofeu was able to quickly adjust to the game according sport picks and AC Milan since he had come to the club he managed to score 18 goals for his team and make 82% of passes. In Spain, however, they are frustrated that he played only two games for Barcelona and failed to justify the high expectations.
